Located on the southern end of Chamberlain Highway in the former Blue Hills School, the South Kensington Fire Department is an all volunteer force. Since 1961, our dedicated men and women have been answering your calls for service and assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We provide help and support not only in our district but across the Town of Berlin and in surrounding communities.
Active firefighters train weekly on tactics and equipment. Our social members organize charity drives and fundraisers in order to give back to other town organizations.
The department currently has Engines 12 and 13 at its disposal; these act as rescue squads and carry the majority of our rescue and firefighting equipment. Due to the lack of hydrants in our district, we also operate Tanker 15 which carries 3000 gallons of water. Engine 14 does double duty both as a mini pumper/brush truck and as the apparatus that carries all of our off-road search & rescue and hazard equipment. Engine 14 also has the capacity to pull a trailer that carries both a Polaris Ranger equipped with off-road EMS and firefighting equipment and an all terrain vehicle used for scouting and personnel transport.
We would like to thank the Town of Berlin and its residents for their continued support.
Current Appartatus: Engine 12, Engine 13, Engine 14, Tanker 15.
