Berlin High School's Fire Service and EMS classes both held their extrication practical today. Engine 8 and Rescue 1 were on hand to assist with the event.
Over the past few weeks fire service students have been busy reviewing tools, theory, and techniques for the extrication of patients from motor vehicle accidents, while EMS students studied patient assessments and triage.
Today's event allowed the students an opportunity to utilize those skills in a controlled scenario involving mass casualties and trapped victims.
The BHS fire and EMS classes are run by CT Fire Academy instructors coordinating with the board of education. Assistance and apparatus is provided by the towns fire companies.
Thank-you to Accurate Auto, Nelcon Towing, and New Britain Transportation for providing the vehicles and bus.
