Fire in Recycling Hopper 655 Christian Lane

On Thursday July 7, 2022, at 2109 hrs. the Town of Berlin Fire Departments (Companies 1,2,3,4) responded to 655 Christian Lane, Automated Material Handling for a fire in an exterior trash/recycling hopper. Car 33 arrived on scene with heavy fire in an outside hopper containing recyclables and trash. Fire crews quickly knocked down the fire and performed extensive overhaul due to the materials in the hopper. The hopper was unloaded by the facility employees while fire crews remained on scene. Fire crews were on scene for approximately 3 hours. Newington and Rocky Hill Fire Departments provided coverage to the Town of Berlin. No injuries reported. The cause of the fire was investigated by the Town of Berlin Fire Marshal's Office.
