On Friday May 26th the Town of Berlin Fire Departments were recognized by the Hospital of Central Connecticut for their continued contributions to caring for prehospital patients as part of EMS Week.

Many people are not aware that in addition to our fire suppression and rescue duties: Over 50% of the members of the 4 town fire departments are certified EMS providers, ranging in certification from EMR (Emergency Medical Responder), EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) to Paramedic and beyond. Or that the 4 Town Fire Departments are certified as a supplemental first responder by CT-DPH OEMS. Members provide basic medical care to patients at all motor vehicle crashes, during rescue operations, on mutual aid assignments, during training evolutions and any other time or services are called upon.

We would like to extend our sincere Thanks to our EMS partners, the Town of Berlin Police Department and Hartford HealthCare/Hunters EMS. Both of these organizations are instrumental in allowing us to provide the levels of service that we do.
